Look at me now!

We often get to see the foster dogs at their worst, recovering from illness or neglect.  Here are a few of the success stories from our adopters.

Frankie sure was a sad looking little guy when he first came to us.  Fur matted to the skin, open sores, and skin infections, but boy, has he changed!  It is hard to believe that this is the same dog.    "My mom says that I am one happy guy, and why shouldn't I be.  Everyone loves me a bunch, and spoils me just a little.  They take me for walks and let me run through the house.  I even have a special spot on the bed where I can lounge and look out the window.  What more could a dog ask for?"

Little Su-Ling, once a puppy mill girl, scared of everything, now out for walks and exploring her new world with her big sister dog Tia.  "My mom says I have a beautiful biscuit colored coat, and I no longer try to run away.  I can face unknown things with more curiosity than fear.  And I really like my belly rubbed."

This sad little face belongs to Fuji.  Although he was said to be a pekingese, we soon found out that he was a Shih Tzu.  He had open sores on his feet and very crusty eyes, he just didn't look well.  It took us a long time to figure out that he had a food allergy to wheat.  If he gets even a mouthful of the other dog's food, his feet swell, and he can't walk.  We had Fuji for over a year, it was so hard to find a home that would accept him and his allergies, and special diets and special treats.  But it happened.  Thirteen months after his arrival, Fuji went home to Virginia.  He now has his very own family and is enjoying being the only little guy in the house.  His new mom is keeping him on a wheat free diet and it shows!
